Jersey Cream

Here are two guitars that we built for a customer in the Channel Islands. The project was a very good test of getting things right without meeting face to face.

The first guitar known affectionately as the 'Black Special' has obvious influences. The body and neck are built from Mahogany with hollow chambers in the body wings. The body also has a Flame maple binding running around the front and back. The pickups are made by Burns, but unusually, the tremolo is from GUS guitars. I have to say this is one of the smoothest tremolos I have ever used.

The second guitar started as a discussion before the first guitar was even finished, but soon grew into another project. This time the neck is Maple, and the body is Alder. The pickups are again the Burns type, but this time the trem is a Fender Jaguar type, but with a Schaller roller bridge, another combination which works well. As expected the sound is quite similar to one of Leo's creations, but with a bit more grunt ! A nice retro feel.

Both guitars feature an unusual 24" scale length and 24 frets.
